Used After Contact Lens Disposable Swim Better
User contact lens (soft lens) can still use the tool when you're swimming or diving in the sea. But soft contact lens that has been used in the pool or at sea should be immediately discarded or not used anymore.
"Using a soft lens to swim in the pool or sea water is fine, but after that you should not be used again," said Dr. Tri Rahayu, SpM, FIACLE in talk show Soft Lens Usage Over 8 Hours Potentially Making Eyes Lack of Oxygen in Bridges with Africa Restaurant, Jakarta, Monday (07/11/2011).
Contact lenses according to Dr. Tri please use for water sports activities but use a disposible soft contact lens, because the particles of the sea or pool water will seep into the contact lens that can change the parameters of contact lenses available.
"Sea water has a high salt water content, making the eye sore and a deposit (accumulate) in contact lenses," said the doctor who became Chief of the Division of Refraction and Contact Lenses Eye Department, Faculty of medicine RSCM.
Dr. Tri also explains the changes in the parameters of contact lenses can also be caused by exposure to chemical fumes, smoke pollution but if not very influential.
"For people who use vehicles such as motorcycles, you should protect your eyes by using glass eyes wide and full-face helmet usage, thereby reducing exposure to dust from the environment," he said.
When it comes to contact lenses watch some of the following characteristics:
1. Conductivity of oxygen, an important characteristic that the eyes do not experience a
lack of oxygen
2. Physiologically inert (does not cause complaints during use)
3. Humidity (wettability)
4. Resist spoliation
5. The shape is stable
6. endurance
7. Clarity of contact lenses
8. Resistant to the possibility of tear in normal use
9. Resistant to penumpukankotoran, protein and fat
10. Require minimal maintenance.
