Ginger Keep Colon Cancer Risk
Colorectal cancer includes cancers that kill. But now studies have found consumption of ginger can help reduce the possible risk of colon cancer.
Researchers from the University of Michigan Medical School said that ginger can be used as a preventive agent for colon cancer because it can reduce the chances of developing these cancers.
These results are based on a study involving 15 volunteers who were given 2 grams of ginger supplements for 28 days and compared with 15 volunteers who were given placebo.
It is known that taking supplements of ginger volunteers showed signs of intestinal inflammation are reduced, a condition often associated with colon cancer. The results of this study have been published in Cancer Prevention Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.
"This will improve the people to prevent cancer in ways that are non-toxic and to improve the quality of life in a cost-effective," said Suzanna Rick, a naturopathic physician, as quoted by the Telegraph, Friday (10/14/2011).
Even so Rick said further research is needed in terms of clinical trials to find out how ginger can reduce the risk of cancer and what compounds that play a role in that process.
Intestine is part of the human digestive system consisting of the small intestine (small intestine) and colon. The majority of colon cancers that develop in the large intestine (colon cancer) and only a small fraction which occurs in the small intestine.
Symptoms arising from colon cancer is bleeding or blood in the stool, changes in bowel habits that lasts for 3 weeks or more, weight loss without obvious cause, extreme fatigue and the presence of pain or lump in the abdomen.
