8 of the 1000 Disabled Persons in Indonesia is Autism


Jakarta, Autism today is not just an issue of children and their parents, but also has become a global problem. These disorders are the fastest growing disorders in the world. In fact, its development claims exceeds the progression of the disease AIDS, diabetes and cancer.

According to data from UNESCO in 2011, there were 35 million people with autism around the world. On average, 6 of 1000 people in the world have suffered from autism. In the United States, autism is owned by 11 of 1000 people. While in Indonesia, the ratio 8 of every 1000 people. This figure is quite high considering commencing in 1989, only two people known to have autism.

"It could be that the increase was due to the method of diagnosis of autism is growing well. But it could also be due to contamination in the first trimester of pregnancy when the formation of brain tissue in children. According to the psychiatrist who is more familiarly called kak Kresno, there are many factors that allegedly could cause autism. In fact, is also suspected to be caused by heredity. The research is still evolving to find out what factors can trigger autism.

Furthermore, Kak Kresno which is a twin brother Seto Mulyadi, chairman of the Commission on Child Protection was made clear to parents to keep children with autism elated. To cope with hyperactive behavior in children with autism, Kak Kresno recommend to apply the so-called CFGF diet (Gluten Free Casein Free). This diet avoids the consumption of foods containing casein and gluten that are found mainly in wheat flour and protein in dairy products, such as ice cream and cheese.

"Food is related to the child not optimal metabolism. When I tried to implement this diet on hyperactive children without using drugs, hyperactivity can be reduced," said kak Kresno.

Currently, autism detection methods are being refined. The aim is to clarify the boundaries of autism to be unambiguous. Therefore, some children who experience delays in mental development have been convicted of autism. In fact, treatment for mental retardation gengguan different to autism.
