Jakarta, Divorce is not an easy matter and not at risk. Because if someone is not ready, then he is at risk of posttraumatic stress syndrome, divorce (divorce stress syndrome) that could affect their health.
Researchers from Michigan State University, USA conducted a study for 15 years and know someone who divorce experience a more rapid decline in health compared with those who remained married.
Meanwhile, another study found men are more at risk of long-term health problems after a divorce if she did not marry again, and women tend to suffer more serious risk in the short term because of a sudden have to lose status and emotional factors.
One risk that could happen is divorce stress syndrome, although little is acknowledged but this condition can affect health. Some of the features that emerged from this syndrome are panic attacks, insomnia and back pain disorders.
People who recently divorced will go through stages of emotional adjustment the same as the person who should receive the death, the emotions of rejection, anger and depression. It is important for women to be able to accept this condition and able to transition through a difficult phase as well as seeking help and support.
"A divorce can affect us emotionally, mentally and physically. Acknowledging these feelings and realize that you have to go through the transition process is a good way to start. Once you understand, then you can find a way to cope," said Dr. David Pastrana, such as quoted from Dailymail, Wednesday (21/03/2012).
Almost the majority of people experience symptoms such as stress, depression, low mood and insomnia. About 60 percent also suffer physical symptoms, including migraine, eczema and muscle tension.
Meanwhile, psychologist Dr. James Lynch, psychological stress increases the damage caused by free radicals (unstable molecules that attack healthy cells) and is believed to play a role in heart disease, cancer and other serious illnesses.
"Under pressure, the body produces more cortisol, a hormone that makes the immune system is unstable and makes it less able to fight the disease," says Dr. Lynch.
Risk of this syndrome is more likely to occur if the divorce is the result of infidelity, or death that makes a person not ready with the condition.
In addition to the problems that arise depending on the age at divorce, if the 30's he worried about how to manage the children, if more than 50 years he worried should serve their own parents.
