Vaginal operations to Overcome Painful Sex After Menopause
Jakarta, The decline in hormones during menopause can have an impact on many things, one of which makes sex so painful. Now there are ways to overcome them apart with hormone injections, which perform operations on the vagina.
In women who are old, drought and lack of elasticity that is sometimes combined with erection-enhancing drug use by a partner can make sexual penetration difficult and resulting in tearing or scarring of the tissues of the vagina and pain arise.
Vaginal dryness and pain during sexual intercourse is the second leading cause of female sexual dysfunction, especially at the age of 45-64 years. Treatment is generally done to overcome it is with hormone replacement therapy.
This therapy is a common choice for women who experience vaginal dryness athrophy or in the vaginal area. But for people who are known to have cysts sometimes afraid to do so for fear of a tumor.
But now there is a new procedure developed by Dr. Herzog is called the Laser Vaginal Area Augmentation of the (LAVA). This procedure is designed to loosen and form the outer layer of the vaginal opening, thus allowing easier penetration during sexual intercourse.
Dr. Herzog said that many people believe that the opening of the vagina becomes larger occurs with age, especially after childbirth.
"But muscle atrophy due to lack of hormones creates the opposite effect, especially in women who have never given birth or by Caesarean section," says Dr. Herzog, as quoted from Health.com, Friday (11/11/2011).
Dr. Herzog said of the 10 patients who came to her usually only two candidates who can perform the procedure. This is because surgery is a last option, so he usually will try first to provide non-surgical options.
Topical estrogen treatment is the gold standard for the elasticity problem and the majority can overcome this if done correctly. But for women who can not use it because of certain conditions, then this LAVA procedure could be the solution.
Currently LAVA procedure can only be done by some doctors trained in New York, California and Canada. To perform this procedure required the cost of 5,000 U.S. dollar (equivalent to USD 47,275,000 at an exchange rate 9455).
One patient who had done this operation is Linda Bianchini-year-old mid-50s. He experienced discomfort and unbearable pain during sexual intercourse with her husband.
"This operation is only about 2 hours and the third Day was able to go home and I did not experience complications at all. Now sex becomes so much better without the need to think about any pain or discomfort," says Bianchini.
