Amid Corona Virus Outbreak, China Faces Threat of Bird Influenza (H5N1)

China's Ministry of Agriculture on Monday (3/2/2020) reported the emergence of H5N1 cases in Shayong City, Hunan Province. The virus was detected at the farm with 7,850 chickens. Reportedly, more than half of the chickens have died, but there have been no cases of infection in humans. "Local authorities have destroyed 17,828 chickens in response to this outbreak," Reuters wrote and was quoted on Monday (3/2/2020).
