This kid should be Black To Wear Glasses Can See

London, a person generally has only a certain color blind, but not for Harvey Webb. He suffered a rare color blindness which makes it only can see black and white, and have to wear sunglasses so he could see.

Harvey Webb (3 years) has a rare condition that makes tidal could see if there is light so it must use special glasses to help him look black. Dark environment helps Harvey to see, therefore their home in Tonbridge, Kent covered by curtains.

Conditions experienced by Harvey known as Achromatopsia which means he is color blind and could only see the world in black and white only. He could never see the sun rising and setting as his eyes could not catch the light.

"We must make things dark making it possible for him to see," said the father Andy (34 years), as quoted from Dailymail, Thursday (2/08/2012).

Meanwhile, his mother Louise (35 years) added when he first moved home, this family was worried about the next time the neighbors actually thought he was not hostile because the blinds are always closed his house. This family must keep the house closed to prevent the incoming sunlight.

Besides Harvey had to wear special glasses that are prescribed by doctors, these glasses are designed to prevent light as possible and only 10 percent of incoming light. These conditions limit outdoor play especially during sunny days.

"It's frustrating sometimes because people think the goggles are used only to make her look cool and fashion, though he could barely see if it does not use glasses," said Louise.

Harvey was first diagnosed at Moorfields Eye Hospital Achromatopsia, London in December 2009 after her parents noticed that his son was having trouble focusing at the sight. Harvey's parents initially believed to have a condition called Nystagmus, but it was guessed wrong.

About 7 months later the doctor was told that Harvey had Achromatopsia which made him unable to see the world like a normal person. This condition affects 1 in 350,000 people caused by the cells responsible for color and light sensitivity in the eyes do not work.

"Children are learning all sorts of things through sight and observation on the outside, but with Harvey conditions we need to find another way to show it to him," said Andy.

There is currently no treatment for the condition, but Harvey has taken part in a study to cure his condition, and he was still able to follow the school in general.

"Harvey activities will be limited by the sight, and it tends to be less confident when playing outside because of its sensitivity to light are too extreme," said Dr Tony Moore, a consultant from Moorfields Eye Hosptial, London.

Achromatopsia is the total color blindness and include the type of color vision deficiency is the most rare. People with this condition will see everything in shades of black, white and gray, and have a common view of poor and extremely sensitive to light.
