Apple fruit is the Most Pesticide Contaminated


Jakarta, What would happen if fresh fruits are highly touted health benefits were a lot of toxic pesticides. The content of pesticides in food has been known to be associated with various health disorders such as ADHD and birth defects.

An environmental watchdog, Environmental Working Group (EWG), launched a list of foods most contaminated with pesticides. In 2011 then, EWG said that the apple is a fruit product of the most contaminated pesticide.

In testing, as much as 98 percent of 700 tested apples contain pesticides. As many as 92 percent of them contained residues of two or more types of pesticides. This year, Apple once again top the list of contaminated foods that many pesticides.

Under the apple, agricultural products contaminated with pesticides include celery, strawberries, peaches, spinach and blueberries. In 2012, the EWG include coriander for the first time in testing and found there were 33 types of pesticides that are banned in 44 percent of the samples contained coriander.

On the other hand, 15 who found the net product is onions, sweet corn, pineapple, avocado, asparagus and sweet peas. The official website of the Environmental Working Group, published a complete list of fruit and vegetables covered by the testing laboratory.

In addition to the land of Uncle Sam, the European Food Safety Authority also conducted a similar test last year. The result, grapes, peppers, eggplant, peas and wheat contaminated with pesticides found most widely all over mainland Europe.
